Available Flow Buffer Queue issue

Postby GeigerZ » Mon Sep 26, 2011 9:33 am

Shortly after updating the license renewal, we've been experiencing issues with the Available Flow Buffer Queue. Instead of having 95% or greater availability, we are getting spikes of 20%+ available for only a few minutes then drops down to zero. The Flow Packets Dropped of course are being dropped due to the lack of flow buffer queue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Version 6.0.5

Scrutinizer is running on a PC platform (Windows XP), but before anyone jumps to that conclusion as a problem, we have been running it on the same box for years and haven't had this issue at all until this month.

Hello GeigerZ,

After searching in our database I cannot find your information. Can you email me more information? benm@plixer.com If you have maintenance I would like to give you a call so we can troubleshoot this issue.

I do not quite understand what "Flow Buffer Queue" was in Scrutinizer. From what I can understand it may a way to measure dropped flows. Can you describe this feature more in depth?

I would like to bring you up to our latest release of Scrutinizer. We have a thread open with instructions on how to upgrade from version 6.x of Scrutinizer. -

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Ben

I will email you the requested information (I had to use my personal email since our work SPAM filter blocked the registration email confirmation).

You can see in the image below (Available Flow Buffer Queue) that it degrades too before and after a reboot. I rebooted the Scrutinizer PC around noon and after that, it showed normal or expected available flow buffer. You can also see prior to reboot, the flow packets are being dropped which results in no data being saved or processed for the majority of monitored sites.

Over time, the Flow Buffer returns to the 'spikes' and erratic availability.

I will try the bringing out version up to the latest release. Thank you for the information.

Hi GeigerZ,

I will be looking forward to the email. In Scrutinizer 8.6.2 I am not seeing a Available Flow Buffer graph in our new version. It may have been replaced by another feature. In the meantime, let me know if upgrading helps.

Thanks,
Ben
