Denika and RRDTools or the need for more complex graphs
Hi all
Is there any way to use the rrdtools with Denika ? I would like to be able to plot more than two variables on the same graphic and I would also like to use the stack the components for instance so I can show on the graph the contribution of each interface to the total traffic. How can this be done ?
Probably one way to do it is to use a script to collect the values and to generate the pictures with the same script (let's say using RRDTool::OO methods in Perl).
I still see one inconvenience, while I will be able to generate pictures with the $HOST-.png I assume I will loose the Zoom in option. Is that true ?
Any other suggestion ?
Thank you
PF

Hello,
There is no ability to stack graphs in Denika at this time, but you can plot multiple variables by adding the Denika reports to a group and then creating a Group graph. If you have questions about creating/managing groups or creating Group graphs, call Technical Support at 207-324-8805 x4.
If you would like to use custom scripting using RRDTool:OO, you can do that. The RRD files are located in soe\misc\rrds, and are in standard format. File naming convention is report id.rrd. You can find the Report ID by editing the report.

Re: Denika and RRDTools or the need for more complex graphs
I could generate my own graphs with exactly the same name as the ones used by Denika.
Will Denika use these for its reports ? I would still like to use Denika's report templates for that.
I am quite sure that the zoom in is not going to work but that is OK for now.
the sort version of the question: how can I display my own graphs still using Denika report templates ?
Thank you

Hi,
If you have the MRTG configuration, then you can create custom reports in Denika, and add the MRTG configuration in the MRTG section of the report template.
You can either edit an existing report and click on MRTG at the bottom of the Edit Report screen, or you can create a new report template.
To create a new report template, go to Denika Admin Tools->Templates, then in the Report dropdown selection list, select either Create New Template - Wizard, or Create New Template - Advanced Mode, if you are comfortable creating without the Wizard. If you use the Wizard, you can then go back into the template and edit the MRTG configuration.
