Discovery of a Linux server
Has anyone been able to trend a linux server? Discovery tells me the system name and location but can't find any other Net-SNMP data. I'm using Net-SNMP with WUP to monitor CPU, disk space etc so I know it's working on the server.
Cheers,
Jim

Check the hardware template to see what report templates are applied. By default the Standard MIB II templates should be applied, but they may not be.

Re: Discovery of a Linux server
I too am looking for an answer to this. I've managed to get SNMP running on the Linux box, but other than getting it to respond to the Public community string I've gotten no further. I think the key is to get the smnp.conf file on the linux box configured correctly...but I've no idea how that should be done. Linux isn't my favorite OS to have to mess with. Anyone out there savy enough to lend a hand?
Update: You know what... I gave up too soon. I was trying to edit the default snmpd.conf file. I renamed it, and created a new one with one line: rocommunity <my string> where my string is the read only community string we use. That cleared it all up. Aparently a lot of things are turned off, or locked down in the default snmpd.conf. I hope this helps anyone else who is trying to go down the same path.

Re: Discovery of a Linux server
What exactly are you looking to monitor on your Linux box? I'm sure we can help get some report templates up here.
