Scrutinizer v9 includes Logalot

Postby mpatters » Tue Oct 04, 2011 6:03 am

GOOD NEWS: Logalot will replace the Alarms tab in Scrutinizer v9. Logalot has received navigation improvements as well as other optimizations. Complete and full integration with Scrutinizer in every conceivable way has also been implemented (e.g. create a saved report in Scrutinizer and apply a Logalot notification). Also, if you delete the saved report, the Logalot policy is also removed. More information on the release.

Hi Sharabi,

I just talked to development and they are not ready to give a date but mentioned we would start in-house ALPHA testing shortly. From there we will have a better idea on a public beta and a release date. If we hear more, we'll come back and update this post.

I hear that the Windows Event daemon has been done away with and now to monitor/log window system events you need to run a add-on on the server that converts events to syslog messages.

Any chance of bringing back the Events daemon? Reason is syslog messages are not acknowledged (UDP throw and hope) and does not meet the goverment CIP regulations requirements we need to follow to be in compliance.

its a great feature hate to see it go away.

Hello Phil,

This logging function is really meant to be an alarm notification solution within the Scrutinizer product.

Are you currently using Logalot as a standalone syslog tool?

Yes we have two Logalot servers, a primary one that provides syslogging of all our network devices. The second one is a redundant server for all network devices.

We are looking for a third logging device such as logalot for CIP regulated servers that can do policy based alerts and roll up of similiar events.
