Scrutinizer v7.0.1 install/update fails

Post by jghidoni » Mon Oct 12, 2009 1:45 pm

Problem: When installing Scrutinizer version 7.0.1, or updating from v7.0 to 7.0.1, you get the following error:

"This installer cannot be used to upgrade older versions of Scrutinizer."

Cause: Scrutinizer version 6.x was installed on this same server and not completely uninstalled, ie. version 6 services still installed on the server.

Resolution: Uninstall the Scrutinizer version 6.x services. Open the Services window, and scroll down to Scrutinizer. If there are any services whose name begins with Scrutinizer, they are from v6.x.

Using the "sc delete" command, you can delete these services.

Scrutinizer collector:
sc delete scrutinizer

Scrutinizer filer:
sc delete scrutinizer_filed

Scrutinizer Flow Analytics Watcher:
sc delete scrut_nba_watcher

Scrutinizer Domain Resolver:
sc delete scrut_nba_domains

Scrutinizer mysql
sc delete scrutinizer_mysql

Scrutinizer apache
sc delete scrutinizer_apache2

After uninstalling any of the above services that remained from Scrutinizer v6.x, then the v7.0.1 update should successfully complete.
