Hello using eval version and scheduled daily reports was working and all of a sudden stopped. I can send "manual" reports and "test" send email works as well. Eval hasn't ran out (19 days left) and unsure as to why this feature isn't working anymore. Please advise.

Thanks

Hello PB-

The plixer_watcher service is responsible for sending emailed reports, so make sure that service is running.

Trouble-shooting after that gets a little more complicated, but I will try to outline the steps. If you would like help looking at this we offer free pre-sales support for evaluators. You can give us a call at 207-324-8805 from 8am - 5pm Eastern time Monday - Friday.

Back to the trouble-shooting...

Using a MySQL GUI or the command prompt you can determine the status of the scheduled report task and the command that was run. From the command promp type: "mysql -u root -p" on the Scrutinizer server. You will be prompted for the root password you entered at install. If you used default settings it will be blank. (FYI, default settings do not allow remote DB connections so the blank password will only work if you are on the server)

Here is the query to find what command we run to send the report:

SELECT executable, arguments FROM plixer.tasks WHERE arguments LIKE '%--emailReport%'

The results will look like this:

status.cgi ["--to","sales@plixer.com","--emailReport","20"]

Next, from a command line change to the \scrutinizer\bin\ directory and run the command without [],"

It will look like this:

status.cgi --to sales@plixer.com --emailReport 20

If it works, try restarting the watcher service. If not, post the results of this command and we will help from there.

Note: To make sure you have the correct report ID, you can go to the web interface > Status TAB > Save Reports > and click on the magnifying glass next to the report you are having trouble with. Report ID will be part of the displayed information.

I hope this helps,

-Erik

Thx EriK,

Yes the plixer_watcher service was running. I tried the troubleshooting steps you suggested and was able to login to MYSQL prompt. Whenever I execute the command however I just get this result:

-->

I keep hitting enter and get the arrow above.
Not sure if syntax is wrong or what but i just copied and pasted your command into the command prompt and got the above.

Otherwise, I did restart the plixer_watcher service in the interim to see if that does anything. Report runs daily at 1am. We'll see what happens.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Erik.

Hello,

There should be a semi-colon (;) at the end of that command:

SELECT executable,arguments FROM plixer.tasks WHERE arguments LIKE '%--emailReport%';

When it comes back to -->, it means MySQL is waiting for more to the command, in this case, it was waiting for the ';'.

If you enter the command with that, you should get the results you expect.

OK I've done that and now the return is:

Empty set (0.00sec)

Not the return I was looking for. :(

Nevermind, fat finger.

+------------+---------------------------------------------------+
| executable | arguments |
+------------+---------------------------------------------------+
| status.cgi | ["--to","xxxx@yyyyy.com","--emailReport","2"] |
+------------+---------------------------------------------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

That was the return.

Ran the second command and got this:

Hi Ronnie-

I am surprised to see all the file handle errors. What version of Scrutinizer are you running? You can click on the diamond in the upper right hand corner to see.

This could a missing directory. Do you have a \scrutinizer\tmp\email\ directory?

Are your Flow Analytics algorithms running within the 5 minute window? If not, that could be the issue.

Did you try re-starting the Watcher service?

If you can answer these questions we will be one step closer to an answer. I may want to have someone from support take a peak at this with you if that is OK with you.

Apologies for the delay, got kinda busy. I have the latest downloaded from Plixer website. (7.7.0.9283) Unexpectedly I've gotten the last 2 days scheduled reports.

Also, that directory is present with a few directories in it. Not sure if Flow Analytics is running every 5 min. Willing to let you guys take a peek. I'll try calling tomorrow if the report doesn't come through tonight....

Thanks for the help so far! :)

I'm baffled :o but it seems to be working now. 2 days straight on schedule. I'll keep you posted if the issue creeps up again.

Thanks!
