WebNM - ODBC access to Inventory

Postby kstamand » Wed Feb 10, 2010 7:14 am

Currently running Denika 7.0 and from the "Menu" we also have a link to WebNM | Inventory. From this inventory, we are able to get a list of all our network gear along with key information - IP Address, Host Name, serial number, IOS version, ChassisID, Location, Contact Information. We have also made use of the "Notes" field to give us some categorization capabilities.

Couple of questions;

* Can we access this information via external ODBC (MySQL) calls? If yes, anything you can point me at for reference.

* If WebNM is not the right tool to query for this information, what should I use instead?

Our goal is to be able to give Network Engineers at different Operating Companies, the capability to query and extract into a spread sheet network gear they are responsible for (utilizing the Notes categorization).

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can access the information via ODBC. You can download the MySQL ODBC connector from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/

Are you familiar with the Schema or do you need a little help there?

It's the schema I need a little help with --> which DB / Table(s) I should be looking at to get the fields of information I noted in my original post.

Thanks much.

The database is: webnm
The table is: invmgr_inventory

Everything should be pretty self-explanatory as far as the columns go.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
