Scrutinizer is an enterprise/business class NetFlow and sFlow analysis tool. Scrutinizer provides historical trends of the company's critical network interfaces as well as the details on:

Who: The end system causing the traffic
What: The application/protocol that is being used
When: The time frame it has been occurring for

How to integrate Scrutinizer with Solarwinds' Orion

Post by jonm » Mon Mar 15, 2010 3:27 pm

We've had a few customers call recently asking how to integrate Scrutinizer with their Solarwinds Orion installation. In response, we felt we would post this short set of instructions.

To integrate Scrutinizer with SolarWinds' Orion, just follow the steps below.

1. Download the scrutinizer_swo_int.zip file and extract the included files to the following locations:
scrutinizer_swo_int.zip
Scrutinizer integration files
(6.42 KiB) Downloaded 398 times
NetFlow.ascx

C:\Inetpub\SolarWindsNPM\Orion\NetPerfMon\Resources\NodeDetails\

C:\Inetpub\SolarWindsNPM\NetPerfMon\images\

2. Open the NetFlow.ascx file with a text editor and replace xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the IP address of your Scrutinizer server. Make sure to include the port number after the IP, if it is anything other than 80 (e.g. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:81).

Note: The values within the NetFlow.ascx file for user= and pass= are set to "admin" by default. To correctly pass authentication, "admin" should be replaced with the correct user name and password.

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/search.html?el=<%=CurrentNode.IPAddress%>&user=admin&pass=admin

3. Open a command prompt to the directory containing insert_scrut.sql and run the following command:

sqlcmd -S <ComputerName>\<InstanceName> -i insert_scrut.sql

ie: sqlcmd -S PROMOTE\SOLARWINDS_ORION -d NetPerfMon -i insert_scrut.sql

4. Celebrate!!

Cool. Is there a parameter/option that can be passed to hide the menus. Once the window is displayed there is a small displayfilter button in the upper left corner which can be clicked to do this, but I would prefer this to be the default view.

Thanks!

Any URL to Scrutinizer with &max=1 in it will hide the menu by default.

This doesn't work with the latest version of NPM, will Scrutinizer be updating the integration for the 10.x.x deployments?

Here's another vote for updating integration.

Another vote for updating this integration to work with v11.x of NPM. Please.
